From 16 to 20 September 2019, IAEA-FAO and the Federal University of Oye-Ekiti organized a national training course on “Enhancing crop nutrition and soil and water management, and technology transfer in irrigated systems for increased food production and income generation”. Training director and deputy vice-chancellor Prof. Sunday Fasina invited ULiège to chair a 5-day training on AquaCrop. AquaCrop is the freely available water productivity crop model distributed by FAO and also at the basis of NADiRA’s crop monitoring and yield forecasting.
Participants were lecturers and researches from Nigeria’s main universities, and technology and agronomy colleges. They were introduced into the basics of AquaCrop, including a one-day workshop on the implementation of sorghum in AquaCrop. The activities of NADiRA were also presented.
